The 2016 SFBL ALL STAR GAME took place this past July 3 at Flamingo Park Miami Beach under a spectacular sun.  The Broward All Stars impressed by shutting out the Dade All Stars 5-0 on a combined six-hitter. For the first time ever, the game featured 15 batters on each team and almost every player got three at bats! Pictured above are this year’s crop of ALL STARS, all wearing their new SFBL logo caps!

Marcel Castenada of the Davie Tigers started the game for the American squad and posted three scoreless innings and he was followed by Broward White Sox ace Alex Alfonso, who earned All Star MVP by pitching the next two innings and getting four strikeouts and a ground ball double play, while also collecting an RBI single and run scored.  Alex Dickson – Miramar Rangers and Chaz Lemoine-South Florida Sting Rays each pitched two innings of scoreless ball to help secure the win.  Eric Abend and Jay Warman of the South Florida Sting Rays, each collected two hits in the affair. The American Team was coached by Jay Auriemma, who recently led his team South Florida Sting Rays team to its first SFBL title last season.

The National Team was led by Collin Taylor-Miami Red Sox, who started the game and pitched heroically for three innings in front of some sloppy defense. Brandon Sam-Miami Brewers pitched the next four innings and gave up zero earned runs. Angel Correa- Dade Nationals and Carlos Pandolfo-South Florida Dodgers, each pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Josue Bastera-Dade Nationals racked up a nice double, which proved to be the only extra base hit the American Team could muster. The Nationals Team was coached by Brandon Sam-Miami Brewers, recent back-to-back SFBL champions.

The All Stars each received a newly minted SFBL logo cap as a commemorative of their participation in the annual SFBL All Star Game. The League thanks all participating ALL STARS for making the event the success that it was!
