Canes win a battle |
by Miami Hurricanes (Premier Division) |
The Hurricanes pulled out an ugly win on Sunday, but a win nonetheless to keep them undefeated. The Canes and DBacks both showed a lot heart and guts as they battled back and forth the whole game. After the DBacks scored a run in the seventh and eighth to put them up one, the Canes battled back to score 2 in the top of the ninth to go up. Andy Celaya put the team on his back and made his way out to the mound to close it out, eventhough he was battling injury and fatigue. Great games like these are few and far in between. Everyone on the field that day experienced why it is that we all play baseball. |

Tigers lose heartbreaker… |

Tigers lose critical game as D-Backs walk off with win in bottom of ninth. Great game on the hill by Ray Sanabria who would go 8 innings, allowing 1 ER, while striking out 8. Tigers offense would be led by Coach Carnevale, who would go 3 for 4, 1 RBI, and 2 SB’s. Adam and Andy would also contribute, going 2 for 4 with RBI’s. But Tigers would be plagued by runners left in scoring position the whole game. Also, a couple of critical errors in the infield would contribute to the loss. Hats off to D-Backs for battling back to get the exciting walk off win… |

Today’s game was a replay of the playoffs from last season and had playoff implications for both teams this season. The Tigers were riding a 2 game winning streak and playing good baseball. The D-Backs had lost their last 2 games and were struggling on offense. The Tigers would get out to a 5-1 lead in the 5th inning. Jay Habacht came in for a rare relief appearance with 1 out in the 5th and did not allow another run for the rest of the game. The D-Backs offense was sluggish through 7 innings. In the 8th inning, Jake Marder would single and drive in 2 runs to close the gap to 5-3. In the 9th inning, Eddie Capote’s 2 RBI single would put the winning run at 2nd base with John Delgado coming to the plate with 2 outs. John worked the count to 3-2. With the runners going on the pitch, John singled to right to score the winning run!! (video available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsvgZdNk5m0&feature=c4-overview&list=UUhhwSeVsH6c859EC6FcscWg). Larry Hernandez, Xavier Ubiera and John Delgado each had 2 hits for The D-Backs. It was a well played game by both teams, worthy of this great rivalry. Good game to Coach Carnevale and The Tigers! |

Big win for the reds |

Once again the reds get a win to stay unbeaten at 5-0. They got a great pitched game by lupa he had them off balance all game and he also got some solid defense behind him at times. There bats were a little off today but the solid defense kept them in the game. In the 6th inning they got a timely base hit from scott hansen that plated 2 runs that basically put the game out of reach for the black bats. The black bats attempted a comeback in the last inning but that was denied w a nice play by shortstop chris as he cut of the throw down to 2nd base on an attempted steal and the man on 3rd try to go home chris throws a laser to home picked by don and the final out was recorded. 8-5 final. |
