It was a beautiful day for baseball at American High School. The D-Backs scored a run in the top of the 2nd inning on a double from Ivan Asencion and an RBI hit from Mike Brande. The Blues answered with a run in the 2nd on a solo shot by Blues pitcher William Dorsey for a 1-1 game. Both teams were held scoreless over the next 3 innings. In the 6th inning, Yusbell Ortega delivered a clutch 2 RBI hit for a 3-1 D-Backs lead. The Blues would again answer with 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th, highlighted by William Dorsey’s 2nd homerun, a 3 run blast for a Blues 5-3 lead. Ivan Asencion lead off the 7th inning with a solo homerun (his league leading 3rd homerun of the season) to close the gap to 5-4. The D-Backs back-up catcher would committ a string of mistakes in the bottom of the 7th, leading to 5 unearned runs and changed the complexion of the game, ultimately ruining an excellent baseball game. The catcher continued to let routine pitches get by him in the 8th inning, leading to 4 more unearned runs and a 14-4 Blues knockout. This was a FANTASTIC game for 6 innings, with both teams playing excellent baseball. Unfortunately, the final score did not reflect the action in this otherwise well played contest. Ivan Asencion was 2-3, 2B, HR, 2 RS, RBI. Mike Brande and David Palma also had 2 hits each. Mario Figueredo pitched an excellent game 5 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 6 hits, 4 K’s, 1 BB against an excellent Blues team. Good game to Manager James Giordano and The Blues!
BLUES WIN LATE

The Diamondbacks pitcher Mario dominated the Big Blues bats for 5 innings scattering 3 hits while holding on to a 3-1 lead. In the sixth Mario was pulled after allowing a couple of hits. The Blues went on to score 4 runs to take a 5-3 lead. The D-Backs got 1 run in the top of the 7th to make it 5-4. The Diamondback relief pitchers couldn’t contain Big Blue’s hitters. We scored 5 in the 7th and 4 in the 8th for a 14-4 win. William Dorsey is 2 names the Diamondbacks don’t want to hear again. William Had a monster day at the plate. William was 2-3 with 2 BB’s. The 2 hits were long home runs over the left field wall. He had 3 runs scored and 5 RBI. William also got the win pitching 6 innings while only allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits with no BB’s and striking out 9. Other notables were Kenny Tyson with 3 hits and 3 runs scored. Joe Keebler with 3 hits and 3 runs scored. Next up for the Blues is a showdown with Perrine.

The monstrous short handed still proved to the league that they have a deep depth as a team. Coach Taveras said no matter where I put these guys I still receive 110 from them. Costly mistakes made in the first inning which all came from starting pitcher Austin Sanchez first batter not able to move to cover first due to him not being in the game and in that same inning giving up a moonshot of a home run towards right field. And then the monstrous just took over the game by a smart coaching decision by Taveras to send his runner on third on a straight steal which boosted them to victory. Player of the game deans going 3-3 2doubles 4 RBIs. We want hunter jones next game that’s all we want will prove to the league that last game between th was a fluke

The Monarchs bats came out fully charged as they put up 26 runs in 4 innings of play. The offense included (2) grand slams from Monarchs outfielder Gabriel Castro and catcher Richard Cerda and an inside the parker by Shaq Fey. Once again Nick Ginsler and Sean Dyer did the job on the mound. Monarchs improve to 5-1 and look forward to their next game against the Miami Blues.

Congratulations to the Monarchs and his coach for a good game as always. Another game for the Cardinals with out pitchers and a lack defense. grand slam of Howard to plate 2 runs and Double of Dave for the anothers 2, Kudos to Jeffrey, Jerry and Reynel who stay in the mound braverly.

Michael Jordan shut down the White Sox by pitching 6 innings of no hit ball and recording 12 Ks. He was also 3-6 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs. Kendrick Douglas was 3-5 with a double. But the White Sox showed a never give up attitude. With the score 14-0 in the 7th inning, facing the mercy rule, the Sox battled to score 5 runs off Bums’ reliever Reed Alfieri and force an 8th inning. The Bums scored another run in the top of the 8th inning and took back a 10-run lead. And again, the no quit Sox added another run on the board and forced a 9th inning. It was where the Sox wanted to be as the Bums were out of pitching and MJ and Kendrick were supposed to leave early. Luckily the Bums’ dynamic duo stayed and Charles Sano was able to get the final three outs but wasn’t easy. The Sox rallied for two more runs and left a few runners on base. I was very impressed with the White Sox, said Sano after the game. Many men’s league teams we have played over the past 8 years would have just packed it up after 14-0 but not these guys. They came to compete. They came to win.

The first matchup between the SF Reds and the Davie Tigers would prove to be one sided, as the Reds would come away with a 14-7 win. The Tigers would seem to lack the fire and intensity needed to win, and play extremely sloppy at times. Ray Sanabria would get the start for the Tigers, and would pitch well against a team with several good, young hitters. Ray would only allow a couple of earned runs, while striking out 6 over 6 innings. The Tigers would struggle again with the bats, scoring 3 runs in the 3rd off of a 3 run HR by the coach, David Carnevale. But they would go silent until the 8th, when they would score 4 runs off of a couple of errors by the Reds infield, and a couple of clutch hits by Adam and Sal. It would not be a game to remember defensively however. The Tigers would commit 4 errors, including another botched run down play. This is something that will need to be addressed during practices. Good game to Donny and especially to the Reds starter, Clark, who went the distance for the win. Happy Holidays to all!

This one was tied 3-3 after the first inning but Tigers pitching would settle down and not allow another run for the rest of the contest. Alain Hernandez took over pitching duties in the bottom of the 1st inning when Tigers Pitcher Eddy Castellanos went down with a knee injury. Alain would go on to pitch 5 scoreless innings striking out 4 and giving up only 3 hits. Tigers bats were more than willing to give the pitching staff all the support they needed. Paving the way was lead off man Ramon Poo who went 4-6 with a double and 2 runs scored followed by Rene Orovio who went 2-2 with a triple, 5 RBI’s and 3 runs. SS Angel Estevez kept his streak alive by going 4-5 with a double and also added 4 RBI’s of his own. Tigers 3rd baseman Garvi Arias was solid as always going 2-3 with 2 RBI’s. And for the second week in row Tigers catcher Danger Villalobos cashes in on another a great performance at the plate by going 3-4 with 1 RBI. The Tigers now 5-1 look ahead to next weeks game when they play the defending champ Broward Black Sox for the second time this season. The Tigers won the first the meeting 6-3…Should be a good one!

The Palm Beach Angels of Coconut Creek (representing greater Fort Lauderdale) outlasted the Dade Nationals, 9-1 at soggy Sunset Park. Jose Estevez tossed a complete game four hitter for the win. Estevez did not walk a batter and struck out seven, retiring the Nats in order in the first, second, fourth, sixth, eighth, and ninth innings. Jamie Siragusa led the offense with three hits and three RBI. Estevez, Mike Fields, Phil Laufman and Juan Gonzalez added two hits each. Alvaro Gomez, perhaps in retaliation for last week’s Player of the Week snub, drilled a long home run.
