The South Florida Baseball League is pleased to announce the launch of the Spring 2014 Season this past April 27, 2014.  This season marks the 45th consecutive season and our 23rd year of operation!  And each season adds to the rich history of the league.

Here’s what’s new!

New Playoff Structure for Masters Division starting this season will now feature a best-of-three championship series (to match the other two divisions).

New Mercy Rule – the league will try out a new Mercy Rule – 10 run rule after 7 innings.  We are experimenting with eliminating the 15 run rule after 5 innings.  We will seek feedback as to unintended consequences.

New Teams – the SFBL welcomes four new teams to the league this season – the Miami Rays (Premier), the South Florida Rays (returning to Senior Division), the Miami Pirates (Senior) and, finally, the Miami Dodgers expansion team.  All four new teams look to be very competitive.

New Fields – the SFBL added three new fields to the circuit this season – Sugar Sand Park in Boca Raton, Coral Glades Sportsplex in Coral Springs and Florida Memorial University in Miami Lakes.

The Miami Open Baseball Tournament – May 24 – May 26, 2014 is coming up fast.  We have two teams from Orlando, three teams out of Miami and a team from Fort Lauderdale already indicating their participation.  There is still time to enter your team – contact the league office at 305.496.2962 for more details.

The Fall 2013 Season Awards Banquet will take place on May 31 in South Miami at Little Hoolies at 9 PM at The Falls Shopping Mall.  We will be crowning our champions with trophies and tshirts.  League members are encouraged to attend to celebration.  This season’s banquet is being held in South Dade since all three championship teams hail from Dade County.

Here’s what’s we are working on:

1. Updated History

2. Hall of Fame

3. 2014 All Star Games

4. 2014 Florida Cup (Labor Day Weekend)
