Miami JC Victorious In Walk-Off Clincher In 2-1 Championship ‘W’ over Serinca Baseball Club.
The formerly known Serinca Baseball Club fell on the final play of the Fall ’22 season to Miami JC 18+ 2-1. Serinca’s Ruben Sanchez took a very tough Nathan Eovaldi type game three of the 2018 World Series loss vs the Dodgers, vs Miami JC. The starter frankly dominated, tossing 9 1/3rd innings, giving up only two runs on eight hits, striking out eight and walking only three, and took a tough luck loss in the championship game. On the other side, lefty starter Rodolfo Mederos, ultimately named MVP of the game, matched Sanchez through 7 brilliant innings, surrendering only one hit, and one run, earning the win and the title for Miami JC. Their pitchers struck out 14 Serinca hitters. The game was tied at one in the seventh inning after Juan Carlos Llerena took the seventh pitch of the at bat from Ruben Sanchez and lined a RBI single to center. In the bottom of the 10th when Rodnney Rodriguez singled on a fly ball to the warning track in left field, scoring ghost runner Yasmani Prieto from 2nd with the go-ahead run and ultimately the winning run. The finale of the game was not without its controversy. That single hit the Serinca outfielder David Gonzalez’s glove square in the pocket of the glove, and bounced in and out of his control despite it looking as if he caught or trapped the ball. The play could have resulted in either an out or an error, or ultimately the single it was ruled to be by the umpires. Serinca fumed as Miami JC celebrated their Fall 2022 championship.
