Sloppy defense and lack of timely hitting sink Red Sox.

Canes show off pitching
by Miami Hurricanes (Premier Division)
The day belonged to the Hurricanes pitching staff. Manny Perdomo, Toby Eigner, and Anthony combined to strike out 14 batters and only sacrificed 3 earned runs as they silenced the Red Sox order. Huston Lorenzo and Andy Celaya’s big bats provided more than enough offensive fire power to give the Hurricanes their 3rd victory in a row.

The gloves were much better today. However, a good mix of pitches by Duane Espinosa kept the better part of the lineup guessing and hoping. Solid pitching performance and more timely hitting by the Black Bats produced them a W…

Fun Game against the Sox. Total contribution from all players, 11 reached base by hits & ALL 13 had at least 1run or 1rbi. Beisbol and mathematics. Great pitching by Duanny & Mayajigua coming from trips to CBA & monster homer and defense by Wilmer who had 3 RBIs. Canada continued strong with 3 hits & 3runs. BlackBats ready for next game!

Good team win, solid defense
by Dade Diamondbacks (Senior Division)
It was a sunny morning at Coral Gables High School. The Brewers scored a run in the 1st inning, but The D-Backs came back with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st on Larry Hernandez’ 2 RBI solid single to left field for a 2-1 lead after 1. The Brew Crew would plate another 2 runs in the 2nd inning, but again, The D-Backs would answer with 2 runs on hits from Albert Ulloa and Xavier Ubiera for a 4-3 lead after 2. The D-Backs would add another 2 runs in the 3rd, highlighted by Andy Chavarriaga’s double and John Delgado’s RBI hit for a 6-3 lead. Both teams would settle in to a pitcher’s duel and play excellent defense, with no runs scoring over the next 6 innings for a 6-3 final. Jay Habacht pitched 6 solid innings to earn the win. Mario Figueredo pitched 2 scoreless innings and Andy Chavarriaga pitched a flawless 9th for a great team victory. Jake Marder had a great game defensively, making several difficult catches in right and center field. Welcome back Albert Ulloa, who went 3-3, 2B, SB, Run. Andy Chavarriaga had 2 doubles and Xavier Ubiera had 2 hits to pace the offense. Good game to a good Brewers squad. Always enjoy playing against Manager George Kenhan and the classy Brewers.

Bad Field Conditions
by South Florida Rays (Senior Division)
Another hot day for playing Baseball. The Stingrays came out strong with a solo Homerun by Tom Terribile in the 1st inning. Then with some good hitting by the team and another Bomb by Tom the Stingrays produce 5 in the 2nd inning. The Monarchs come back with 3 of their own and another 3 in the 4th tying it up at 6. The Stingrays go back on top in the 5th and the Monarchs come back with 3 to take the Lead and control the game the rest of the way. Hats off to Kevin Parsons for pitching 7 great innings but the Monarchs were too much in the end. Im proud of the Stingrays they played with Big Hearts and Intensity considering the Bad Field Conditions.

The score is deceiving since the game was close for a majority of the time. Hats off to the Rays who were competitive and determined. A note to the league – be careful when pitching to Tom (Rays) – he hit 2 bombs that should be on SportsCenter. Great team effort by the Monarchs to turn it on when needed.

Southern Yankees explode with offensive outburst
by Southern Yankees (Senior Division)
A beautiful day @ Lynn University Field to play baseball turned into a hitting clinic by the Southern Yankees. With 5 runs in the first & second innings the Yankees jumped out to an early big lead & double snowmanned the always tough Davie Tigers by a score of 16-8. The Yankees were led by Wilmur FLores & Saul Pena with 4 hits apiece. Flores wanted everyone back in the dugout when they were on base & proceeded to knock in six Southern Yankees runners in another game where he excelled. Not to be left out of the outburst was captain & slugger Sam Bartoletta who singled ,doubled & tripled & caught a well pitched game by new pitcher Franklin Brito. Christian De La Rosa & Jerry Wichert banged out 3 hits apiece to lead the Southern Yankees 20 hit attack. De La Rosa also made an ESPN da da dat da da dat throw frOM left center on a rope to Catcher Sam Bartoletta who swiped a perfect tag to catch a Tiger by his tail. All in all a great effort offensive wise and as we plug a few holes defensively the SoutheRn Yankees look like they will be much more competitive in the South Florida Baseball League this season. Hats off to classy Tiger Manager Dave Carnavale who also played a stellar game 4 the Davie Tigers @ shortstop & with his hitting at the plate. Good seeing Andy Bo & Tiger pitcher Ray Sanabria who once again gave us fits with his assortment of pitches that floated & darted in the middle innings; as he kept his team in the game. The Southern Yankees looked awesome offensively & Franklin Brito is a huge upgrade to our pitching staff with his complete game performance. Great game ballplayers it was fun & we have assembled a team that looks like it can go toe to toe with anyone. We look forward to the challenge as the S outhern Yankees return to being a force to be reconded with again. Stay thirsty my friends!

Yankees knockout Tigers…
by Davie Tigers (Senior Division)
Southern Yankees outslug Tigers, handing Tigers their third loss of the season. Tough start to this one, as Yankees would jump out to quick 5-0 lead off of Tigers starter, Max. Yankees 1-5 hitters would look like Murderer’s Row, as they would crush the ball all over the field to start the game. Tigers would get one back in the bottom of the 1st, but would leave a couple on to end the threat. In the 2nd, aided by a hit batter, and 2 consecutive walks, the Yankees would add 5 more. Ray Sanabria, relieving Max in the 3rd, would keep Tigers close with a 1-2-3 inning. Tigers would get 3 in the third, as Ray Sanabria would lead off inning with a double. Jose would follow by getting on an error. But he would be caught stealing by a perfect throw by Yankees catcher, Sam. Coach Carnevale would fly out to center and with 2 outs in the inning, Carlos would get another clutch 2 out RBI hit this season. Andy would walk, and Carlos would score on an error. Chayanne Hernandez, would continue to hit the ball well, bringing Andy in with an RBI double in the gap. Chayanne would add another RBI double in the 7th. I have been very pleased to see his improvement at the plate, but most of all, his willingness to listen and learn the game. In the end, the much improved Yankees would be too much for the shorthanded Tigers. Hats off to Ray, Jerry, and his classy team for playing the game the right way. The Senior division continues to look as tough and competitive as it has been in quite some time. Tigers will need to step up in all facets of the gamne to stay in the hunt…

Yankee bats woke up today (a bit) but did not capitalize on the 11 LOB; plus 3 errors after 2 outs in the 1st inning put us in the hole 4-0 from the get-go. Got to get to the field early to warm-up & play hard from the start, basic fundamentals. Good game Black Sox.

Angels Avoid Upset
by Palm Beach Angels (Masters Division)
The Palm Beach Angels of Coconut Creek staved off the gritty South Florida Dodgers and held on for a 10-7 win. Rick Cabello made his debut with the Halos and earned a complete game win with less than his usual stellar stuff. Claude Love, Rob Keuster, Jose Morales, Anthony DeFilippis, Mike Fields, and Jamie Siragusa led the offense with two hits each. Siragusa drove in four runs from the leadoff spot. Keith Nicoll contributed a clutch two run single that gave the Seraphs the lead for good.
