6-6 game through 6 innings

It was a sunny and hot morning at American High School. The Dodgers scored 2 runs in the 2nd, answered by The D-Backs with 3 runs in the 2nd, highlighted by Bob Villalona’s long RBI double to center field. The Dodgers put up 4 runs in the 3rd, again answered by The D-Backs with 3 runs in the 3rd, lead by Eddie Capote’s 2 RBI hit, for a 6-6 game through 3 innings. Neither team scored in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings. The Dodgers scored a run in the 7th to take a 7-6 lead through 7 innings. Nick Geary’s 3 run homerun put the Dodgers further ahead in the 8th. Both teams would add a run for a 12-7 final score. Eddie Capote lead the way with 2 hits for The D-Backs. Bob Villalona pitched 7 1/3 innings, 6 K and took the loss. Jay Habacht pitched the final 1 2/3 innings 0 ER, 1 hit, 1 K. Great game to our good friends Andy and Mo Chavarriaga, Emmanuel Munoz, and Nick Geary.

Tigers use longball to secure spot in Playoffs…

by Davie Tigers (Senior Division)

In grand fashion, the Tigers would hit 4 HR’s to march into the Playoffs. Adam would start things off in the 1st, lining a shot over the RF wall for his 1st HR as a Tiger! The Tigers would score 5 in the 3rd, as Sneider Melendez would start things off with a double. Getting hits that inning would be Jose, Ricardo and the red hot Gustavo Bordones. Ray would be solid on the hill, allowing a few runs in the 4th and 6th, but this game would be about the Tigers offense. In the 5th, Ricardo would continue his hot hitting as well, getting things started with a hard single to left. He wouldn’t be at 1st for long, as Gustavo would hit another HR for the Tigers! In the 6th, Tigers would tack on 3 more runs paced by hits from Chayanne, Sneider, Yasu and Jose. Yasu, who had been inserted in the lineup in the 4th, had singled and now doubled in his 1st two at bats. This was a sign of something grand to follow. In the 7th, the hit parade would continue and ultimately seal the game. Gustavo would start things off with a double to center. Up next would be the cantankerous (grab a dictionary, folks), but hard hitting Carlos Fernandez, who would get in on the HR derby by going deep over the right field wall. With back to back walks to Mike and Andy, and Chayanne reaching on an error, the bases would be loaded, setting the stage for Yasu. Yasu would not disappoint as he would clear the bases with a line shot over the left field wall for a walk off Grand Slam! What a way to end the regular season as the Tigers move on to face the Perrine Monarchs in the playoffs!

Miami Brewers (Senior Division) 0 Classic game

Classic game

Another classic game between the Blues and the Brewers! Great pitching on both sides. Looking forward to the Playoffs! Good luck to everyone ! Let go Brewers!

BLUES PITCHER DOMINATES
by Miami Blues (Senior Division)

Today was pitcher day. The Brewers pitcher Sean kept the Blues bats quiet with a mix of breaking balls on the black. All the Blues could manage was 8 hits but 3 came in the 4th inning. Billy Zoffinger knocked in Brian Nentwig with a line drive double in the right center field gap for the only run scored in the game. Blues pitcher William Dorsey dominated the Brewers hitters. He gave up only 6 hits while striking out 9 for the complete game shut out. A very rare score in SFBL. Two of those hits led off the top of the 9th inning for the Brewers. It was 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. We decided to load the bases to make a force at home and leave the double play option open. The next 2 Brewer hitters popped up and struck out for the Blues win. Always fun playing the Brewers. The playoffs now begin and the Blues are hoping for their 3rd Fall Championship in a row. Good Luck to everyone.
